How To Propose To A Job

Getting Work On Scripted Starts With Proposals

So, you've checked off everything on the Getting Started list and now it's time to start finding work on Scripted.

The first step is to visit the Find Jobs section and begin browsing available Jobs. Here, you’ll find a list of Jobs you’ve been personally invited to, as well as a separate list of additional Jobs that are seeking Proposals from Writers.

Once you’ve found one that catches your eye, click on the Proposal to begin pitching.

The Content Brief

The provided content brief is your key to landing this Job. This information, provided by the Client, gives you the majority of the insight you'll need to meet their needs for this particular Job. Carefully review the Content Brief in its entirety, taking note of all of the details.

Pricing And Word Count

You’ll also note that you’re able to propose the word count and your pricing, among other parameters. If you're unsure about how to price the job, we've provided some recommended prices that will populate when you've listed the word count. You're by no means obligated to use these, but they work as a great starting point.

Great Proposals

A great Proposal usually contains the following:

  • Vision: A clear, concise explanation of your vision for the Job, incorporating a deep understanding of the client's needs, as noted in the Content Brief
  • A Bit About You: Tell the client why you’re an authority. If you have experience in the field this Job pertains to, it's incredibly advantageous to share that background in your Proposal. Let the client know why you're uniquely qualified to write this Job!
  • Samples: If you have any relevant links to writing you've done elsewhere on the web, include them along with your proposal.

While you may be tempted to copy and paste your proposal across various Jobs, this is against Scripted policy and can result in your account being suspended.

When finished, review your Proposal and Submit it. You’re done! From here, the customer will review your submission and if it’s a good fit, they’ll turn it into a job.
