How To Update Your Stripe Account

To begin, click Payments on the left column of your dashboard, and on the following screen, click Payment Setup in the upper right-hand corner.

Next, click "Reconnect"...

On the following screen, begin filling out your information.

Note: You may encounter an issue where you're unable to use your existing email. In this case, we advise creating a new email for use on the new Stripe.

For the most part, this is a standard form, but Stripe's forms assume that you are a business when filling out this information. If you don't have business, don't worry! Proceed with the form normally and we'll touch on a few common sticking points below:

  • Type of business: If you don't know what to put in this section, you are likely an individual, sole proprietor, or LLC. Since this is the default response, you can leave it.
  • EIN: Your Social Security Number or relevant tax ID goes here if you are not a business.
  • Business Website: Social media accounts are okay, but if you don't have one or don't want to share it, you can just put scripted.com here.
  • Business Description: Clicking this brings up a search function. Type in "Blogs and Written Content" and select that option. In the field below, you can just briefly describe your role as a content creator.

The rest is fairly self-explanatory until we reach "Credit card statement details":

  • Statement Details: Here you can enter "Scripted, Inc." as this won't appear on any statements.
  • Shortened descriptor: "Scripted, Inc.", again.
  • Support phone number: Same phone number you listed in previous sections.

And it's smooth sailing from there!
